Why Dump Congress?
Much has been said about Congress becoming more accountable to its citizens. Much has been said about citizens needing a mechanism to send a message to Congress.
The fact is, the mechanism exists. It is the polling booth. Each of us has the ability to make our representatives accountable to us. We do it by voting up or down on their jobs by either keeping them in office or sending them home.
We have given them chance after chance and so far we have been rewarded with bigger government, more
spending, higher taxes, lower return for our tax dollar, and an arrogance which is palpable. We have
re-elected members from our districts, saying that “…they’re OK…it’s just those other guys in those other districts
who are betraying our trust”.
The time has come to take back our representation. We can do it with a little extra effort and a firm resolve to
vote out every incumbent in the upcoming election. Think of this as term limits without the legislation. All we
do is vote them all out. That doesn’t mean you have to vote for a Republican if you’re a Democrat or
vice-versa. Just choose any challenger who meets your sensibilities and vote for them.
This website can help spread the word. We will be providing links to local races, showing who the
incumbents are and who the challengers are. We will be a central gathering point for people who agree
that we need to enact our own term limits, by voting them all out…by Dumping Congress now and starting
anew. And if the people we vote in this time aren’t accountable, we can send them packing in the next
election cycle.
We believe that at the federal level, there is no accountability, no desire to really represent the wishes
of constituents. Even at the state level, not so good. At the local level, though, many of us can
directly interact with city councilpeople, county commissioners, school board members. Not so at
higher levels though. So this effort is aimed at federal officeholders.
Do your part. Spread the word about DumpCongressNow.org and support the effort.
Share information about challengers and incumbents. And keep it up. We can do this.
